Brief History…

The Sauna originates from Finland over 2000 years ago. The first known Saunas in Finland were made from pits dug in slopes on the ground and were used as dwellings in the winter to keep warm, these were called smoke saunas. Stones were heated on a fire filling the room with smoke, once the stones had reached the maximum temperature, they would open the door to let the smoke out and the heated stones would keep the room heated for up to 12 hours.

A Sauna or Sudatory is a small room or building designed as a place to experience dry or wet heat sessions. The word Sauna is an ancient Finnish word (Language spoken in Finland)  referring to a traditional Finnish bath or bathhouse.   As science evolved the fist electric sauna was introduced in 1938 in Vassa (city west of Finland).  The popularity of the sauna gained momentum over the last several decades in Scandinavia and the German-speaking rejoins of Europe and now in the Uk where the public saunas are becoming increasingly fashionable, The practice of alternating between the sauna and the hydrotherapy hot tub.
