Getting Your Garden Summer-Ready

Your guests will never want to leave…

Now that spring in full swing and summer is creeping over the horizon, it might be time to turn your attention to the garden. The time has come to get it summer-ready for the long hot days and warm, relaxing evenings, however few there are here in the UK.

For many, your garden is somewhere you forget about in the winter and can’t live without in the summer. If you’re planning on making your garden the ultimate space for entertainment this summer, then take note of these top tips.

Tip #1 – Patios & Decking
Come on, admit it – Your garden decking or patio which looked great last summer has been so neglected over the winter that you can’t even bear to even look at it. Both wooden decking and paving stones can become tired looking and discoloured over time but it doesn’t take much to get them back to looking their best. We suggest in purchasing a pressure washer to blast away dirt and grime to leave your patio or decking looking as good as new!

Tip #2 – Take Care Of The Lawn
In most parts of the country, early spring is not too soon to begin major lawn improvements. After watering the lawn, dig out deeply rooted dandelions and any similar weeds. If lawn growth has slowed, consider applying some fertiliser. Continue pulling out the weeds every few days throughout the summer months for the very best results and enjoy a hit of that freshly cut grass smell. As the weather warms, gradually raise the blade on the lawnmower to cut the grass so that the lawn will be more resistant to summer heat.

Tip #3 – Lighten Up
Lighting is essential if you want to create an inviting atmosphere in the evenings. Solar panel lights are a cost-effective great look in the garden and an eco-friendly way to light up an outdoor space once the sun goes down.

Tip #4 – Use Flower Power
This time of year, plants shoot up rapidly, and it’s easy for a garden to quickly become overgrown. Get rid of any weeds and give the empty space a good turning over. Visit your local garden centre and pick up a few of your favourite plants or flowers. Make sure you water them regularly then watch them grow and transform your garden over the summer months and beyond.

Top tip #5 – Take A Seat & Relax
Now the hard work is over, its time to relax, unwind and enjoy the comfort of your fresh new garden with friends and family. Don’t let the summer months slip by without making the most of the social opportunities a garden entertainment area can provide.

Or, better yet, treat yourself to a hot tub from Just Hot Tubs and enjoy your garden all year round!
